BSP Starts Incorporating Urban Agriculture in its Offices and Camps

Following the inking of the partnership between the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) and the Department of Agriculture (DA) through its Bureau of Plant Industries (BPI), major developments have been taking place in BSP Offices and Scout Camps nationwide.

BSP Secretary General Rogelio S. Villa, Jr. leads the initiative to develop urban agriculture gardens in BSP Offices and Scout Camps.

“We must start with ourselves, in our offices and Scout camps nationwide. The BSP recognizes the importance of promoting urban agriculture as a measure to address stability of food supply, alleviate poverty, foster social integration among communities, and protect the environment through eco-friendly methods and other alternative and innovative gardening methods”, he said.

The BSP has recently released BSP National Office Memorandum No. 34 (http://scouts.org.ph/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/15-May-2020-National-Office-Memorandum-No.-34-s.-2020_Urban-Agriculture-1.pdf) and 35 (http://scouts.org.ph/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/21-May-2020-National-Office-Memorandum-No.-35-s.-2020_Implementing-Rules-and-Regulations-on-BSP-N.O.-Memorandum-No.-34-s.-2020-Urban-Agriculture-1.pdf), s. 2020, which enjoins all Scouts to participate in the Urban Agriculture Project and outlines its implementing rules and regulations.
