BSP Conducts Online Seminar on Urban Agriculture

In coordination with the Department of Agriculture- Bureau of Plant Industries (DA-BPI), the BSP conducted an online seminar on Urban Agriculture (UA) on 20 May 2020. This was broadcasted at the BSP Facebook Page (@boyscoutsPH) via Facebook Live.

In a span of two (2) hours, Mr. Ernie Lito Ballosa, Agriculturist II of the DA-BPI discussed the basics of UA, how to acquire and plant seeds, and how to prepare a site for planting, among others, with the aim of virtually educating Scouts as the BSP rolls-out the UA Project. Present in the seminar are: Secretary General Rogelio S. Villa, Jr., Field Operations Director Sofronio D. Honotanosas, Go Green and Plant & Nurture Trees Coordinator Sophia U. Castillo, and other participants. 

During the opening, BSP Secretary General Rogelio S. Villa, Jr. emphasized the importance of the UA project and the role that Scouts will take.

In fact, even before the signing of the partnership with the DA [Department of Agriculture], there are numerous Scout units who are already doing and promoting urban agriculture as their project for the WSEP [World Scout Environment Program] and SWA [Scout of the World Award].”, he said. 

The BSP is set to roll-out the project this May 2020.
