As an offshoot of the partnership between the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) and the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC), the BSP conducted Basic Training Course for Leaders of Adults for police officers on 28-30 October at the National Police College in Silang, Cavite.
The training, normally conducted for prospective BSP adult leaders or Scoutmasters, aims to instill among participants good moral values which consist of instilling in them character development, sense of volunteerism, nationalism and patriotism.
The three-day training focuses on possible introduction of community engagements and community relations through certain methods and programs used in Scouting. At the duration of the training, the organizers implemented minimum standard health protocols such as physical distancing and wearing of facemasks and shields.
Some 53 police officers, mostly at the rank of police lieutenant, took part in the three-day training.
The training was facilitated by BSP Chief National Commissioner and PPSC Vice President for Academics, PMGEN Atty. Cedrick G. Train (ret.), together with Syd Castillo, Director for Educational Methods, World Scout Bureau-Asia Pacific Support Centre; BSP Program and Adult Resources Development Executive Yasser Sarona; BSP Manila Council Field Scout Executive Jeffrey Alitagtag; Bro. Marlon Loi G. Antonio, PPSC Academic Instructor and National Advisory Council Officer of the PNP Patrol Plan 2030; BSP Program Assistant Lolito P.
