February 2017 – the Asia-Pacific Regional Support Center in collaboration with the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) hosted the Leadership in Scouting Workshop at El Cielito Hotel in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, Philippines.

Leadership in Scouting Model of WOSM

The training-workshop allowed the participants to explore the three (3) different tracks (Youth Programme, Adults in Scouting and Organizational Development) using the Leadership in Scouting Model of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) composed of four (4) specific skills sets, namely: Visionary Skills, Management Skills, People Skills, and Self-Management Skills.

At the opening program, AP Regional Director Jose Rizal Pangilinan welcomed the 31 participants and staff from 13 countries including NSOs from other Regions like Mauritius, Denmark, Germany, Portugal and from the WSB KL Office.

BSP Secretary General Engr. Roger S. Villa, Jr., articulated that ultimately “leadership is all about relationship built on trust, love, care and hope and we in BSP are very optimistic that each of us can make a difference”.

 

The participants shared their expectations and majority of them looked forward to exchanging experiences and leadership activities with other associations, as well as being able to bring new tools for leadership while most wanted to know how to introduce better changes through leadership.

The first track is Youth Programme (YP) focusing on various existing and imaginative ways of implementing the model in Youth Programme. The second track is Adults in Scouting (AiS) covering different ways of using the Leadership in Scouting model, applied to the management of adults, and the third track is Organizational Development (OD), examining how the model can become useful for the organizational development of Scouting Units, the Sponsoring Institutions, Scouting Districts, Local Councils, Regional Scouting Committees and the National level.
