The Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) opened the 2017 National Scout Youth Forum (NSYF) and Regional Scouts of the World (SW) Award Discovery Workshop for Visayas Regions at Manocmanoc Elementary School, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan, April 9.
A total of 33 Scout Representatives, and 248 Senior Scouts and Scout Leaders from 13 councils were the participants of the four-day NSYF and SW Award discovery respectively.
Eagle Scout Richard D. Olano Jr., Regional Scout Representative for Visayas to the National Executive Board and Chairman of the forum’s Organizing Committee said that these programs will develop scouts’ critical thinking and decision-making skills for future resolutions to existing problems.
“The programs for Visayas Region will serve as a venue for scouts to voice out the issues that directly affect them,” Olano added.
Regional Scout Director Bienvenido B. Toledo of the Eastern and Western Visayas Regions, along with Mr. Kenny Ralph S. Fernando, Program Executive of the BSP National Office and National Coordinator of the SW Award Programme and Mr. Leo D. Lao, Field Scout Executive of Iloilo Council and Regional SW Award Programme Coordinator are spearheading the said activities.
Eagle Scout Jonathan A. Ramo from Tacloban City Council, a support staff of Regional SW Award Discovery Workshop and a member of the pioneer batch of the SW Award Discovery of the BSP felt honored and privileged to serve the scouts in their start up journey towards the attainment of the Scouts of the World Award.
